Oliver Vernon Renegade Trajectories

Renegade Trajectories presented a series of new abstract paintings and sumi ink works by artist Oliver Vernon at Joshua Liner Gallery in 2013. Drawing on sweeping vistas and hallucinatory landscapes, the exhibition merged angular geometry with blurred, expressive color fields that evoke both urban and primordial terrains, challenging traditional perceptual boundaries and charting dynamic paths through layered visual space.

Oliver Vernon is a California‑based contemporary painter whose work explores form, movement, and the reconstruction of visual space through abstraction. He received his BFA from Parsons School of Design in 1995 and draws inspiration from abstract expressionism, surrealism, and mid‑20th‑century painting, while incorporating organic and constructed environments into his layered compositions. Vernon has exhibited widely across the United States and internationally, including solo shows at Joshua Liner Gallery, David B. Smith Gallery, and Kirk Gallery, and his work is included in numerous collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
